PODCAST STRONGHOLDS D&D Podcasts

For this episode, we have Bart Carroll, Shelly Mazzanoble, Trevor Kidd, Greg Tito talking about Video Games again. Here is the blurb:
Neverwinter. Rob Overmeyer serves as Executive Producer for Neverwinter. He rejoined the podcast to tell us about Neverwinter: Strongholds. This seventh expansion of the game—announced for this summer—will see players join with their guild to claim an abandoned keep from the wild and build it back into its former glory on the largest map in Neverwinter. Find out more at playneverwinter.com.

I am really glad that Greg has joined the team & it is always good to have Trevor on the Podcast, but I am really not that interested in the video game & these episodes in which there is no mention of the Tabletop RPG just kind of remind me of how little is currently being developed and released for the 5th edition.

The art, however, continues to get better and better--this image is just amazing!

I hope we can start having more episodes in which the RPG is discussed.

Round Table 75 - Kobold Press Update

Here is the blurb:
James Introcaso sits down with Wolfgang Baur, Kobold in Chief of Kobold Press about his upcoming visits to PaizoCon and North Texas RPG Con as well as his upcoming events at Gen Con. Then they talk about Wolfgang Baur's wish for a fifth edition Dungeons and Dragons OGL and all the awesome products he has planned once (if) it launches. Spoiler alert - fifth edition Midgard Campaign Setting is liberally spoken about. This podcast was recorded on June 17, 2014.

I did not think that this was a very good episode. Wolfgang is such a D&D Insider his experience with the game is very remote from mine so I do not really relate to much of what he is feeling about the game right now.

Also, I think James is much better on player focused topics & these insider interviews work better with Jeff on the main Tome show.

Actual Play Elemental Evil--D&D Encounters S20 S14

This week we do Character Creation for Camille's Home Brew Campaign...

Princes of the Apocalypse Review (Tome 250)

This is a fantastic episode of the Tome. Here is the blurb:

In this episode, number 250 (250!!) Jeff and Tracy join guests Geoffrey Winn and Matt James to discuss the second epic storyline adventure produced for D&D, Princes of the Apocalypse. Their analysis is followed by an interview with Rich Baker, the lead designer of the product.
Matt James is always awesome on the Tome--he is playful, well informed, clever, passionate about the material, wise in the history of D&D, and just a flat out awesome guest. His comic foil to the more conservative Jeff & Geoffrey is extremely entertaining & fun to listen to.

Again, Tracy does not add much here--she kind of steps in with Gender Representation in Art comment occasionally, but it mostly seems like she has not really read the material & fails to articulate her general concerns around Dungeons--which would have been nice since Princes of the Apocalypse is basically one massive dungeon crawl after another. Matt even calls her out on this & she talks about his visit rather then the material under discussion...

The second part of the podcast in which Jeff interviews Rich Baker if fantastic behind the scenes stuff--I am not sure if this is because of Rich's candor and overall awesomeness or Jeff's ability to listen and ask great questions, but this really is one of the best 'how did you do it' type D&D interviews I have heard in a long long time.

The Tome really likes Princes of the Apocalypse and I share their enthusiasm--it really is a great adventure with some fantastic open ended adventuring opportunities.

Elemental Evil--D&D Encounters S20 S14

Another fun week of D&D Encounters start with taking out the trash--look at that can placement--flawless!

On the way down we saw this strange bird antenna thing--I really have no idea what this is.

Then we had food at Sizzler which was a totally tragic mistake--I mean seriously it is expensive and completely inedibly bad--some of the worst food that I have ever had....Such a mistake!

The tables were already posting up when I arrived--things are going so well at Comic Quest--really a wonderful place to play!

The difference between Parasol & Umbrella is still not really clear to me.

But when you add a fan it does help some...

The players all seem to be having a very good time.

And bringing some amazing snacks!

Jack & I really do have some amazing dice

This week we had some new players & it was awesome to see one of the players step up and run a 1st level adventure for them--it really was awesome! I am starting to find my love for this game again...you know those times when you do not really even notice something is gone until it comes back...it was like that...
