Pancake Breakfast

Bikes are in the bushes

Back Packs are piled on the landing

Muffins are out

And Tuesday is getting ready for some Magic!

Jack, who was skipping school to go to Disneyland, was in a great mood.

Preston was ready to go bright and early

My work station was well appointed!

We had the entire Tuesday team in attendance today which has been rare this year: Preston, Jack, Derek, Alexander:

Evan, Matt, Dylan, and Andrew

I played two matches against Preston whose deck needed some tuning--he ramped up quickly, but could not close.

Matt ripped his deck apart & tried to clean up his mana--which was mostly the problem--he had to many fixers...

We had two questions--the first one I do not really understand what the issue is...

Preston asked "Would you consider mana as land"? He was playing Mana Confluence

But I am not sure what he was trying to do.

The next question, is yet another in the series of "what does protection mean" questions!

Andrew plays Storm Breath Dragon [again, and obviously] and swings

Matt has Mantis Rider out and wants to block

But he cannot even block because of the SBD's protection.

Last Infusion

A lot of the ExtraLife & Magic community has been tracking Jack's progress through infusions at CHOC. This may have been our infusion! Depending on how things go during the next round of testing, this may be the last time we see that loaner Spider-Man!

One of our favorite places at CHOC is the Abandoned Patio Break Room. I do not think that any employee has ever stood on this patio!

This week Jack fell asleep very quickly thanks to the oral benadryl.

We did get to spend some time in the infusionarium, but they could not get the play-stations working this week, so we were not able to play our final game of Transworld Surfing--one of the worst video games ever created!

I will not miss sitting and watching Jack, but I will miss all of the Angels that we meet while receiving treatment.

It was a life changing experience.

Hoard of the Dragon Queen--D&D Encounters S19 S13

Comic Quest was packed again this week--we have a fantastic crew of players right now. Super stoked to be able to DM at this shop.

Brendan was new & playing for his first time--he had a well tabbed PHB that I friend had helped him with & he was playing a fantastic Ranger build. It was great to get to know him.

Nathan is running some awesome Portal Magic Puzzle session--totally off book! It is nice to see Organized Play supporting more DM Freedom this season.

The table was fairly crowded--I ran the combat without mini's because there was no where to set out the mat--this edition supports free wheeling play very well.

The other table was also running a largely minitureless session which is good to see!

Jack has very ugly dice.

I had a very good cup of coffee--which was nice to see

We fought some Hobgoblins--the art in the Monster Manual for these guys is amazing! I had not really read up on them before the session so I ran them as basically orcs, but it looked like the book had a lot of good information on them and their background--I plan to go back and read that stuff.

Also, Chelsea built me this amazing dice bag because I had supported her in the Linen contest she did a while back--I love this thing! Note that the beads or whatever on the tie's have DM letters--so rad!

Episode 16 - Everything you wanted to know about the Ninth World but were afraid to ask [Transmissions from the Ninth World]

This podcast is a long discussion with Shanna Germain.

The first half is a wonderful interview with Shanna and provides a lot of great background on her, her writing, and her work in RPG's. It includes this great quote:

Plot is the hardest part...I just sit down, put my blindfold on, and hang on.

The second half is a review of the latest book--the Core World Setting book--the go around the world map pointing to highlights. Very enjoyable if you are playing Numenera.
