His Junk / Her Treasures

Jack and I played FNM at this shop in Coos Bay.

There were 10 players and we played M14 Sealed. The players were very good--surprising for such an out of the way shop. Several of them had binders with tons of rares & speculation cards.

I lost the first round. Jack lost the first round.

We played each other in the second round. I beat him but only because his black deck did not have much in closing--I think we split 2-1.

I played the guy Jack lost to in the first round, he stalled a lot and so we tied.

Pretty much the worst night of magic I have ever played.

The dudes who ran the store were very nice, negotiated the price of some cards we ended up not buying, and gave Jack a prize just for showing up, so overall not a total waste.

The drive back to Bandon was fantastic listening to Sirius radio on windy wood lined streets.

Murder in Baldur’s Gate--D&D Encounters S15 S6

Another great week of D&D Encounters at Dice House in Fullerton.

Brian and I went solo--Jack stayed home to do home work and perhaps recover from his late night snack the night before which was two veggie patties, a handful of cheese, and more Frank's sauce than any reasonable person would apply.

Brian and I skipped this & had sushi. It was great.

DM Gerard is still running our table--he thinks that the adventure is one of the worst in the Encounters series because he does not get much information. I think it is one of the best because there is so much great roll playing and so little combat.

I am playing Doctor Druid, but unfortunately he has none of the skills that I keep trying to use--I am hitting all the right notes with his insanity and paranoia, but I keep having to make diplomacy or bluff checks instead of arcana or nature.

I love the image that I used for the character--green and creepy and covered with bugs.

I have a fun mini and a frog that I hope to use--so far it has not come up.

I am also using a great laser pointer that Brian bought for me--I love this thing!

We did not use minis or maps--in fact the only combat at all came very late when I was frustrated and attacked a Halfling firework dealer mostly out of boredom.

I have successfully developed a theory of Bhaal Spawn conspiracy that I plan to bring to the table for the last three weeks just to be whacky.

On the drive home Brian and I stopped for gas and saw this giant grass hopper bug on the pump.

Happy Jacks RPG Podcast Season 10 Episode 14

Gateway2103, Tales of the Floating Vagabond Kickstarter, etc.

Very good episode.

I always like the Con review episodes a lot--there is a lot of good advice and insight on how to make a fun, interesting game at Con. And their advice has had a huge impact on Startegicon events--games are listed as Happy Jack's games in the program & players are looking to have a lot of HJ inspired fun.

Icosahedrophilia Podcast, Episode 167

From Beyond, Part 1

Another great episode.

I am very far behind on this, what may be my favorite all time podcast, and hope to spend some time this week catching up.

This is a solid episode which continues to move the story foreword--some good investigation, a great combat, the party gets some minions [listening to them decide what to do with them is classic], etc.
